How To Get Out Of A Fitness Rut

HOW TO GET OUT A FITNESS RUT

The new year – new me crowd is winding down now. It is the end of January and I see the gyms population decreasing. It will soon go back to default and those who tried will soon fail at their fitness goals. Don’t let that be you! Here are some key ways to get out of a fitness rut.

Switch Things Up

If you are doing the same exercises every time in the gym then that can get boring. Most people do the same old exercises and they hit plateaus with their progress. Then they start to contemplate if the fitness life is for them. Take a full week off of weight training if you been lifting for months straight. Do a full week of different kinds of cardio like HIIT or low intensity cardio. Do something different!

Switch Gyms

Sometimes I get sick of going to the same old gym and want to get a new membership elsewhere. Seeing the same people and same equipment every time you workout can get annoying. Go to a different gym and broaden your horizons. Try different equipment and see new girls in yoga pants. Maybe you will meet new people and get a date for a weekday.

Take Classes

I know it may sound girly but classes are great. You can take yoga or join UFC gym and learn Muay Tai. It will spark new interest and make you want to go to the gym. It will also create interactions with others who will keep you on you path to conquering your fitness goals. Then it will make you commit once you join having to be somewhere on time.

Music or Audio Books

If you are not listening to music while working out then start now. Music can get you in the mood to train and motivate you to push harder. If you are already listening to music then maybe a good audio book will keep you in the gym longer. As long as you are doing something different, try it now to get out of your fitness rut.

Watch Motivational Movies

Films such as Rocky or any action movie could get you in the mood to get in good shape. All it takes is an action hero to get you pumped to have a six-pack and jump out of a plane. Maybe not jump out a plane but that could be fun too. Get some inspirational movies in your Netflix playlist and start watching them before you go to sleep. You may wake up wanting to eat some raw eggs.
